Looking back over the past four years I remember certain things events and people that changed a normal rum-duexistance to a memorable one "ons bJ through Peihaps you This is the final issue of STUDENT LIFE to be put out by the present staff next year the new staff will take over Most of the staff w'ill be the same people who worked toward producing a good paper this year but their positions will have been shifted Editorial policies will differ with the change in editors quality of writing will improve over last fall quarter’s since we will not have a ninety-perceinexperienced staff as against ten percent this year It is often customary to wax sentimental at the close of tlie year but sentimentality is too rampant Nevertheless it has been a good year for STUDENT LIFE we feel that the paper has been improving steadily Your outgoing editor is leaving behind a year of great anxiety but gr eater - run blues jazz classics and lar music We’ve traversed pops field from Doris Dn Frank Sinatra the cli field from Franz Schuberth Irving Wassermann they field from Stan Kenton Duke Ellington the bluesy from Tony Bennett to U Cole and the ballad field !J Eartha Kitt to Billy Eck Theie have been times y you have disagreed with i column and it's beliefs t'l can assure you that it J been written with the inteni satisfy and not displease ns 'improvement — of the All effoj Jm been directed —— no time was there At studentbodv college any otw w® "-- wtien contraversy arose we commented ' ever ore pacification t Should be stiU better certain-- e LI5E iy it to be the students’ newspaper I 1 liked best especially Doc himself Although Doc is approaching 65 years of age his heart and body are still as young as many of the athletes he has taken care of for the past 34 years here on the Aggie campus Coming at this time the action will give Doc the chance to enjoy the honor that has has so honorably won Doc’s very existence in his 34 years of service has been dedicated toward the institution he loves In those more than three decades of service working with several thousand athletes and more than a few coaches Doc has not missed one day of work But feeling more than a responsibility toward his work Doc has attended every athletic function of any importance that has anything to do with Aggie athletics This includes parties banquets lectures and many other functions that can only be known by the man who is there when it happens Nor has his enthusiasm toward the college been confined to the athletic department for students throughout the years have become familiar with Doc at many of the other functions sponsored by the college Doc has forgotten more intimate details about Utah State than most other Aggie boosters will ever know But as was expected of Doc he took the honor lightly happily acknowledging the many letters and calls of that came from all parts of the nation from people who have long since left Utah State but that remember Doc as the highest standard of a great instution Doc Nelson can still be seen every day performing his many duties that have through the years become part of his life But to Doc those menial little tasks have taken on even more meaning than even he had previously given them because he through his service has become a permanent part of the work ne loves so well a part that will live on long after Doc himself has gone qj g— That's All There i Phone BUSINESS STAFF Richard Olsen Joanne Tucker John Linford Udean Fellows Janet Knowles Business Asst Mgr Bus Mgr Advt Mgr Exchange Mgr Photographer |
