Rough Sports Year Looking back over the sports situation at Utah State during this year brings to mind some things that just weren’t too clear at the time The athletic council’s action in the case of football seemed just about the only alternative Maybe it was best to have no team than to have cellar team like Utah university’ but Utah profited by their ' W experience Then came basketball and the council made a decision without too much consideration ruling the school team “unofficial” This was when the council should have actec only after giving the sport a try just as they did football Utah of course went ahead with- - an official team not caring too much if their team was a winning team Then they went east to cop the national championship The only thing that seemed to hold the champ builder Doc Nelson back from organizing a mat squad was that they would be uncontested in Utah But what about the rest of the West and the AAU? ’ Leahy ball on Lieutenant Verne Hoffman former Utah
