i I i PRESIDENT PETERSON ISSUES FAREWELL The Editor has asked me to say a word through Student Life m its last issue of the year to the students before they depart for the summer The invitation is appreciated mainly because during the year the students of the College have merited a very high regard and I welcome the opportunity to say so In my experience I have known no finer body of students It has been a real satisfaction to cooperate with them in the year’s work The present year which comes to a close next week has been m certain respects the most important and most encouraging year In the history of the Institution since its founding The has witnessed the readjustment of the College to post war year conditions This readjustment has been not only academic but financial The State Legislature recently adjourned created the division of pedadogy and education at the College which represents a long step forward in our work This division has since been organized with the idea of supplying a greatly needed stimulus to teacher training in Utah In other ways the Legislature enabled us to accommodate ourselves to the new demands mainly of the Institution by a The present year has witnessed our occupancy of the large Engineering and Plant Industry buildings the laying out of the east quadrangle and several other physical improvements of great value The College with its enlarged curriculum will undoubtedly experience a constant growth during the next few years I cannot refrain from saying that the spirit of the student body has been the finest in our history At once spirited and aggressive it has been notably clean and free from rowdyism The College is growing in numbers in physical size in influence among the people and as important as anything else in refinement I believe I would rather have the Institution and its students known for their refinement than for anything else except cleanliness Cleanliness of course cannot exist without refinement Refinement in its best sense means strength com- with quality Without making a preachment to which the invitation of the editor renders you dangerously liable to express to you thanks and congratulations for the good work of the year wish you a pleasant and profitable summer and an early return to the duties and pleasures of another year May the next year be full of opportunity and blessing for all of you And it will be if you but know enough of the secret of life to give to the tasks of the dpy everything which you have in energy and enthusiasm It is the law of life that you will be paid in full E G PETERSON THE FINAL SHEET Volume 19 number 33 terminates the list of Student Lifes for the ventful year of 1920-2It has been the policy ot the editors to give to the students accounts of the various activities carried on under the Aggie banner In the sense of an the staff has endeavored to keep ahead far enough to announce the coming attractions Some things have passed by unadvertised in the columns of the official organ but they can be listed under the head “Few’’ Aside from the ads and the general write-u- p it has been the policy to insert a few funny bone ticklers just enough to add a 1 event-forecast- er title apice The staff has worked hard and faithful to make the sheet worthy to have at its head “Published by the Students of the AciicuRural College” Factional interests have been barred aa aa possible and if some article appeared to be factional it tru interpreted so by the reader The department head and reporters should be highly ctrrplimented on the meritorious work
