Show Published VOLUME X LOGAN UTAH FRIDAY DRY FARMING FOR THE FRENCH Dr Widtsoe ’s Book Conquers This week Dr Widtsoe received t lie first copies of the French edition of his hook on Dry Farming Ever since the book appeared in English it has received much ap- preciative and flattering comment from French scientists It was i as specially timely for them they are working out in their colonies in Northern Africa many of the arid land problem? which have already been solved in the American WVst And so the French translation appears under the sanction of the general government of Algeria where it is expected that the book will be of great value to French colonists In the main the French edition follows closely the English original as regards text and illustrations though it is brought up to date by comments on the drought of 11)10 and ha? many pictures of arid land cnltivrlion in Northern Africa It is also bv a valuable preface preceded by M Augustin Bernard the well known French scientist and member of the department of Agriculture under whose supervision the work of translating was done mainly by his daughter A Thanks to Prof Merrill translation of this preface will soon appear in the Deseret Farmer where the many admirers of Pro blent Widtsoe’s scholarly and useful work will have an opportunity to see how it is admired by our French cousins and how much help they expect to derive from it More PROM IS SHAPING Details Will Later Be FlilDAY FEBRUARY 10 College 1012 President Widtsoe on The Round-U- p and Housekeepers’ Conference Utah is coming into her own dominion!
