Show no STUDENT LIFE One by one the merchants came up Now and then a single sleigh glided past with the tinkling of the bells ringing in your ears Camp Lift The sun was shining brightly and everything was fresh and green The camp fire was crackling mer- rily under the black frying pan filled with speckled beauties which sizzled and sputtered filling the air with a pleasant odor Many merry ground squirrels could be heard chattering in the distance a group of bright colored birds were chirping in the thick willows and the occasional chatter of a flock of magpies resounded in the still summer The horses were neighbreeze ing and frolicking about the camp when the happy cry of a lucky fisherman reached them they pricked up their ears and listened Many reports of the largest gun rang out and each one was followed by the shout of the “sportsman” whether he hit or missed A Rtstltss Night We retired early that night but ever so restless that we could not I rolled the window blind sleep up so we could get a view of things outside The moon shown brightly the stars sparkled and the snow glittered as if covered with diamonds Away down in the pasture we saw some dark object mov-in- o around in the shrubbery willows Finally they came out on a trail which led across an open field It was so bright that we could distinguish the color of the horses and even count the steps Suddenly we heard the mournful howling of coyotes they took |
