Westminsters Parsons, after posting a satisfying 34-- 7 revenge victory over Carroll College at Helena last weekend, are laying an ambush for the invasion of Western Montana this Saturday. Coach Dave Nickel's crew, afloss in ter sputtering to a 14-their opener against College of Idaho, opened the throttle against the Fighting Saints from Last Chance Gulch. Carroll must have felt this game was for the birds. They couldnt stop Westminsters Sparrow, who completed 17 pas12 -- kl ' ses in 43 attempts, and couldnt keep the ball away from the Parsons defensive ballhawks who snared three fumbles and picked off a Carroll pass, all leading to Westminster touchdowns. Mordret punted in the middle of the third quarter but the play was caUed back and the Parsons were penalized five yards. He punted a second time and the ball hit a wire stretching across the playing field. The ball was returned again and on Mordrets third attempt the kick was blocked, scooped up by a Carroll lineman Scoring summary: left in second quarter: Westminster recovers Carroll fumble. It was a little inspiring to see the way some seniors and freshmen acted last week. It was also a little depressing to see some of what the freshmen endured. Once an awesomely wise old seer said that the primary purpose of Initiation Week is to make the freshmen identify with themselves as a class. This will allegedly make them all warm and human and a part of the ship Westminster good (which is occasionally seen by some observers to be listing sev- eral degrees to port or starboard, perhaps because of too much emphasis on social affairs and too little on academic stimulus).
