Show The PARSON Rage 4 sented., The winner of both men and women's tournaments were sophomores. Jim Cummings won the mens division, and Ginger Gore won the womens division. Second place went to two seniors, Gary Bliss and Margaret Warren. Sophs Win in Softball Mens Softball by Alan Bnrkhalter The Intramural softball tournament was organized under Bob Norwood. There were five teams participating in the tournament. The Captain of the seniors was Ray Clark; junior captain was Ray Lee; captain for the sophomore I team was Rod Grundwald; the sophomore II team was led by Marty Bernstein; and Allan Burkhalter was the captain of the freshman squad. The winner of the title was the sophomore I team. The team led by Mr. Bern- by Cart Smith In intramural tennis this year, we had a very good tournament of participants. First, in womens singles, Rose defeated Patti Lee in the final round to capture her fourth straight championship in four years. In mixed doubles yet to be played the top seeded senior team of Segura and Rose will play the second seeded soph team comprised of Kim Gregory and Lee for the championship. the sophomore class. The schedule of the games went as follows: the juniors won over the freshmen. May 7, the seniors won over the sophomore II by forfeit. May 10, the sophomore I were victorious over the juniors.May 15, the freshmen lost to the seniors by forfeit May 21, the juniors came out on top of the sophomore IIs by forfeit. May 24, the freshmen and sophomore II teams played with neither having a full team, so the game was ruled a double forfeit. - In mens singles there was keen competition and as a result there were a few upsets. The biggest upset occured in the semifinals round when unranked Sherrill Berrett dumped Chris Segura (64, ) first seeded for the tournament. 8-6- In the same round 2nd seeded Kim Gregory overpowered to gain Curt Smith , the final birth to play against Berrett. Campus Club Hits On Campus Unity The first meeting of Campus Club was held on October 9th in the R. A. Office. Much discussion arose on the idea of campus unity and much enthusiasm was shown about this problem on campus. Some of the questions that arose were, What is campus unity? Are we really lacking it here? What can we do about it? How important should spirit be to each individual? What about the integration of town and campus students? Of campus students themselves? Whos at fault? Is this really a problem? Many more similar and various questions arose. Some of the conclusions and constructive thoughts were that campus unity is really the feeling of belongingness, and that on a campus this size, people have more of a chance to belong to small groups, (especially the student body as a whole), and have the opportunity for self expression which is lacking in many larger colleges and universi-- . ties: We should go out of our way in creating better relationships with our fellow stu- - bodys attention when yelling We also discussed unpep-p- y pep rallies and decided that one of the reasons for the lack of spirit was that most of the students dont know their team. The idea was brought up that we should have the team introduced at pep rallies and have your part? (The next meeting of the Campus Club will be held next week. Day and time will be announced.
