representatives to his 1114 letter of march 6 1869 recommending that as the rush valley military reservation utah territory is no ap longer nger required for military purposes e its disposition be authorized by lawe lawr in irl such terms and iu u sue suc sueh such manner as may be deemed most to the United states As the disposition of the sald said sis reservation er has not been berr Sedrie secretary tary of war with the following report the tho united states military reservation at rush lake valley utah terri territory tory was declared by the president february 4 1855 the subject of the abandonment af this reservation was laid before he the house of representatives by the secretary of war lil ill letteron letter lette 1 I march marjip ja 1869 with recommendation chatas th atas hs it was na no longer r required mor Jor military purposes its disposition be authorized by lawi law upon such terms and in such m manner as might be deemed most advantageous vant ageous to the united 1 tates states but no le legislation isolation appears to have been had in the matter and by war department letter of december 13 1860 the Te reservation wata wasa relinquished linquish ed to the interior department by war department letter of july 29 1873 1673 the attention of the secretary of the interior was invited in this connection to the opinion of the tile attorney general of may 24 1873 relative to the forb port reading military reservation california from froin which it appears that the consent of congress Is is necessary to the re relinquishment iq us h m ent and sale bale of military t ary reservations and such consent not havin havid having irbe been given in this ease case h he a was in informed formed that the custody of the rush lake valley reservation must be retained in the war department until itsu its sale ale was authorized zed by congress in view of which action the papers in the case were returned to the Secre seere secretary office at the opening of
