| Show RICHFIELD sevier county april 1871 editor deseret neus news dear As I 1 think it would be interesting to some of the readers of your valuable paper aper to see something from this place I 1 Y will try to give a short report about affair affairs shere nere this thib in connection with all theother theather settlements sett lemento on the sevier bevier was deserted in ia 1867 account on of the indian difficulties but last year we received permission froin president B young through hon wm morrison 0 judge of th the 6 county to go and resettle re settle the deserted places in consequence of which some of the old settlers and some others camei came to this tells place in order to ret re claim it at the present time we number about sixty families and are expecting more this season bro nelson higgins who before was appointed and acted as bishop to the satisfaction of the people has again been chosen to preside here which h he does to the general satisfaction of th the settlers and I 1 think he is the right man in the right place for he is a wise and good man and is very much loved lovid and esteemed by the people and I 1 hope the settlement will prosper by the favor of god under his guidance we have now re repaired paired our big canal for irrigation and a good deal deai of grain is already put in and andlee tuil ure brethren bre euren Ehren are yet very busy with their spring work A sunday school hab has been organized with bro H P miller as superintendent and nd we hope to have a operative cooperative co grist mill finished by the time our grain will be ripe and as we have a great deal of good land and an abundance abunda bce bee of water and no grasshoppers we hope to get a go good od harvest peace and good will win to one another are prevailing and we feel the lord is blessing us respectfully yours A CITIZEN OF RICHFIELD eich ElCH FIELD fiend |
