movements of the latter day saints attracted the notice of a neighborhood it was confidently asserted that the succeeding summer or year at farthest would witness the total dissolution of the society but that year passed and though hated and persecuted to an extent which seemed out of MI all proportion propof non lon to the number of its adherents it still lived and prospered and thus it has been year after year 9 its enemies predicting its speedy overthrow and und flattering themselves thu that their hopes would be gratified and azid its members rejoicing in the goodness and promises of god until naw now we look around and lo 10 I 1 we have become a numerous people and occupy a great land no longer the talk of a neighbor neighborhood hood hODd the latter day saints are made important and successful propagation and raising of which the welfare of the farmer and people in the rural and agricultural districts so largely depends silk and fish can also be raised in large quantities with little labor and expense in many portions of the territory the soil boli and circumstances of the people being just adapted to the former and the many streams and lake lets in the territory offering the finest i tuni ties for the latter these later lat er pursuits have not been started practically in this city but it is likely that they soon will be for the necessary preliminaries are being made and books containing the actual modus operandi which have been successfully pursued in other places can be obtained at awyers book store on ou east temple tempie st at a very low figure and by the
