The placement of a piano is always of prime importance. A good piano should not be too close to the steam heat and unit or does not improve when near Dead wall open windows space behind the performer may account for a sounding board which disturbs the tone. A position is preferable if there is space. The person who plays the instrument should try it out in all possible locations before any other furniture is arranged. Don't put an ornament on the piano which gets in the way of opening it or which does not do it justice Proper light on the keyboard is requisite and I find a standing floor lamp is suitable for this: or, a hidden coiling spot can be installed if the architecture of the room permits and two Walls were sofas, one a formal Hcpple-- ' white and one contemporary, were upholstered in e e . damask.
