been changed L ince cince leaving boston and they will go through to san francisco and return it is the first through entire train which will have crossed from the atlantia antio to the pacific direct every car going through with only through passengers to commemorate the event before starting a bottle was waa filled at boston with sea water out of massachusetts bay in the presence of the party to be taken to san pan ian francisco and there to be emptied into the pacific ocean we have been favored with copies of the transcontinental a daily paper published on the train W E a lifelong iffe life from its columns we clip the following description of the train the train is made up of eight of the most elegant cars ever drawn over an american railway they were built by the order of the pullman the are destined two magnificent saloon cars the palmyra and marquette come next the train is completed by the two elegant commissary cars the st charles and st cloud each of which is finished in all its appointments as any of the other carriages noticed the entire train is equipped with every desirable accessory that may tend in the least to promote the easo ease of the passengers gors gers elaborate hangings hannings hang ings costly upholstery artistic gliding gilding and beautifully finished finished wood work marking every portion of their arrangements among the new features introduced with these cars are two well stocked libraries replete with choice works of fiction history poetry etc and two of orthe the improved burdett organs these instruments are complete in every detail of stops pedals double banks of 0 keys etc the cars ears of this train are lighted during the night in a new and novel manner there being under each an ingeniously constructed machine which
