Show DEATH OF PIONEER the eyes of mrs mary jonsen jensen closed peacefully in death last thursday night and the spirit of oc a good woman was called home seven neelis ago mrs jensen suffered a stroke or of par alisis which affected tier her entire body more or less making it necessary tor for the lady to remain in bed dining that length of time the last moments were passed through tigh with no apparent suffering with the exception that mrs jensen felt tired from having lain so long being used as sh she ewas was to go about her daily work enjoying good health the rest was uri undoubtedly welcome to the good lady and she has gone to a renard regard which was earned through gh faithful toil and unselfish devotion in this life mary olsen jensen was born in aalborg denmark february 1841 when a girl of 13 years of age she left the old country and came to america ki brigham city being tier her destination detia tion the voyage over the ocean was a long tedious and eventful one the entire journey from aalborg to brigham city requiring one years time the journey across the plains was iua made e in the usual manner at that time dur ing which the weary pilgrims were called upon to suffer more than can he be realized by the present generation in the year 1860 mary olsen became the wife of II 11 C jensen more generally known as aa miller jensen accepting figga asche 43 abe did the ht law of sarau aal be became came the third wife of tier her husband dill dren blessed that union four of whom have prece proceeded eded their mother to the other life As a wife and mother no grander testimony could be borne of her unselfish devotion than that borne by two of tier her husbands children by his other wives who stated at the funeral services that aunt mary was just as much a mother to them as was their own mother in fact that same characteristic te prevailed in the whole family for there never lias has been any discord faultfinding in or dissentious dissent ions among any of the members of the family aunt mary ilary it was told often corrected heaed the other children tor for murmuring against their lot and against their father for be it remembered poverty in those days was more generally the rule slie she was a faithful worker in tile the relief society of the ath ward being active up tip until the time she was stricken en with the affliction which claimed her life she had a soul unbounded for its kindness and sympathy was patient and honest and faithful to every principle which she knew to be right two sons lrenzo lorenzo and C ellas elias survive their mother and she also leaves two brothers residing in this ell city and vicinity ity james and christian olsen funeral services were held in the fourth ward meeting house saturday at I 1 the house being well filled with relatives friends and neighbors the Y L M 1 I A had draped the aland in white and flowers and the casket and stand covered with floral feral emblems dishop bishop wright presided and a influence pervaded the meeting the speakers were bishop wright james nelson jensen C II BI jensen james olsen and president stohl each one bore a strong testimony to the upright character ot of sister jensen while tier her brother james olsen related how the family came to accept the gospel and the trials tit in coming to this land elders denmark and IE C M jensen spoke of the deceased in kind affection as they had bad known tier her to be a second mother to them and tier her great kindness and loya lity to tier her liusa husband ind were ell enlarged laro ged upon president stohl gave some excellent advice as well as bore testimony that ue lie knew aunt mary ilary to be all that tile the speakers said site she was tile the ward choir sang the hymns hyning resting now shall we sleet meet and when first the glorious light of truth trub between speakers mis morilia spencer and miss callie lund sangi sang a duet entitled tired and victor 13 madsen sang not halt half lias has ever been told the prayers were offered by elders BI L nichols and jens jens it respectively |
