Show BY afi HORITY i AN ici ACT in loio territorial territorial county city and wooi school tutt TOM TO M sec 1 be it enacted by the governor and legislative assembly of the territory of utah that the territorial tax shandre shall bhail hereafter be one halt half of one per cent per annum to be paid in money or auditors warrants and that each county and incorporate city is hereby respectively authorized to assess and collect a tax not to exceed one fourth of one per pt r cent provided that the assessor of the territorial rit orial and county taxes also be the assessor of such city taxes as are areher areber herein ein eln authorized within his county and each county school district may way by a two thirds vote of the tax payers of the district assess and collect a tax not to exceed one fourth of one per cent for the purpose of assisting to pay quai lined fied school teachers and to provide bul eul suitable taie tabe books sec 2 that the time required for completing the assessment of property for territorial and county taxes shall be the first monday of cf june in each year as formerly provided in section one of an act amending an act prescribing the manner of assess assessing ng and collecting territorial and county approved january 21 1859 11 1 1 and that an act in to the tbt manner channer of assessing and collecting collect ine inz territorial taxes approved january 17 f 1862 1 is ta hereby repealed sec 3 that the word I september in section 2 page 22 of the compilation act approved january 16 1862 1962 relating to the five per cent on the amount of ta tax taa due be so eo mended amended as to read december decembers 7 sec 4 that all laws and parts parti ot of laws lavre which were repealed in any charter in this territory by the passage of an act entitled an act in relation to territorial county and city taxes tax es approved january lt it 17 2 are chereb hereby renewed and made of full force and all I 1 laws y and rid parts p arts of laws conflicting with th this is act are dereby repealed approved january 22 1864 AN ACT to incorporate the Seven seventies lisl library and reading heading room boom sec 1 be it enacted by the governor and legislative assembly of the territory rv of utah that joseph young benr albert P rockwood horace S E eldredge ldredge john van cot john V long james IV cummings commings robert L campbell campbells thos bullock wm S godbe godbey robert campbell elias eilas JA T ilarra son and james mcknight of great salt lake city and their successors in office are hereby constituted a body corporate with perpetual succession a to be known and styled the seventies t library and reading room association i and shall bhail have power to purchase receive i belve and hold bold property to bue cue and be b sued to plead and be im pleaded defend and be defended in all courts of law and equity and in fit all actions whatsoever and to do and perform all things that may of right pertain to their duties in the regulation control and suitably providing for the interests and carrying 11 into effect the objects of this organization and the tb e above named persons are hereby appointed a board of directors of said association until an election shall shail take place sec 2 that a board of directors shall be elected by the members of said association on the fourth monday in january 1865 end thereafter annually the directors shall have power to appoint a secretary Sec treasurer and librarian ani and ant such other officers as may be deemed necessary also to fill fil any bacan vacancy cy that may occur in the board and at he the close of their term of office ashall shall present to the As clation so a report 0 of the number of books papers ard other publications on hand the amount of monies received and disbursed during the year the number of books donated and by whom also aso the be amount incurred for services of librarian and other incidental expenditures di tures A majority of the directors hall shall constitute a quorum to do business and for the proper mana management etnest of the library and reading room they tiey shall have power to frame bye laws weichi which upon receiving the sanction of two thirds of the members present at any stated meeting shall shail be in full force sl sc S ic c 3 that the library and reading 1 room shall be for the use and benefit of the i public subject to such regulations as may in the bye laws be prescribed sc sec S c 4 conditions of membership shall be aa as made and provided by the directors approved january 21 1864 |
