| Show A MIGHTY NARROW ESCAPE tuesday mr E V eaves ot of provo met with a shocking accident which brought him just a bout about as 1 clo close as he could possibly be to the other life without passing over the line mr air eanes recently came from england and is associated with th the maiben maibell paint glass co of provo which had the contract for or painting the high school he and a force of men have been engaged engaged during the past week in finishing up their work on the building and were getting their things together preparatory to leaving for home when the accident occurred it happened happe this way contractor al E anderson was up on the root roof ot of the building which Is three stories high clearing off the building material which lie he threw over the coping to the ground he had every piece of timber cleared off and was just about to throw a large ladder to the ground but called out first tor for every body to look out below just as sir mr anderson let go of the ladder mr eaves stepped out of the building and was as struck on the head by the ladder which was coming with speed the blow tore nearly one third 0 of the mans scalp open making two large ugly gashes which required 2 12 1 2 hours to sew up the outer plate on the skull was broken but no other injuries were sustained which is a mar marvel e arid and the doctor attributes the reason for mr eaves being alive to the fact that the ladder must have struck him a glancing blow ile he was rendered unconscious and to all appearances was wa 1 dead when the doctor af arrived rived but wi with th a little work signs ot of life appeared and the injured man was quickly removed to the hospital although very sore and badly bruised he Is feeling pretty good arid and every hope is entert entertained aind for his recovery |
