bring to the membership the fully outlined program of the organization which was adopted at the annual encampment some months previous There will be special meetings' for department presidents district presidents and auxiliary presidents There will be general round table discussions vrhere any officer or member may ask questions and get any information pertaining to the various programs of the or ganization The national organization held its twenty-sevent- h annual encampment in August in Los Angeles In the years of its existence it has made rapid growth There are auxiliaries in every state in the union and in Hawaii Alaska and the Canal zone In 43 states there are departments and in many there are county councils Each different group has its own duty to perform to make the national auxiliary one of the largest women's patriotic organizations in the United States Among many of the notable achievements the national organi zation has accomplished are the building and maintenance of a hos pital and recreation center for the orphans of the deceased members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the national home located at Eaton Rapids Michigan Both of these buildings were financed at an approximate cost of $100000 by the voluntary contributions of the membership through their respec tive local auxiliaries' Every veteran hospital in the United States gratefully acknowl edge the cooperation and service rendered by the auxiliaries in their local cities Regular visits to the hospital with gifts of value and words and deeds of kindness and hours spent in entertaining the patients are a part of the regular program or tms organization The Americanism program is one of tne most far reaching and im portant of the many phases of the work outlined by the national auxiliary Classes are held for aliens and the principals of the American democracy are taught by members of each local auxiliary Flags are presented newly made citizens and the respect which the flag deserves is impressed uoon them Special funds for rehabilita tion and welfare are created for the relief and suffering of this great veteran band In so far as they are able food clothing
