The Parliamentary Procedure team placed third in the state. Members were Jon Lun-del- l, Elise Rowley, Tiffany Ferguson, Nathan Judd, Rachel Charles, Jennifer Swenson, and Ashlee Silcox. Jennifer Swenson was named the Star State Greenhand for Agribusiness in Utah. Lindsy Andrews was named the Star State Farmer in the state, and Camille Crandall, Melanie McMullin and Shawn Silcox all won state proficiency awards. Mr. Swenson was given the Distinguished Service Award by the State FFA Association. Lindsy Andrews and Melissa Swenson were both chosen to be on the six member State Officer Team for the 1999-200- 0 year. JENNY ANDERSON EVELYN WAITE Jehovahs Witnesses Enjoy Special Assembly Day Members of the Salem congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses have returned from Spanish Fork, Utah, where they attended their Special Assembly Day, May 2, according to Roger Snider, the presiding overseer. The 1257 attending greatly appreciated the program and theme, Show Appreciation For Jehovah s Table (Isa. 65:14; 1 Cor. 10:21); because it demonstrated how we can maintain spirituality, said Snider. Those in attendance were reminded that our spiritual feeding is primarily done at congregational meetings. It is here that we form a longing for the unadulterated milk of Gods word. And it is here we grow to spiritual maturity. (Heb. 5:12, 14) The highlight of the program was the discourse "Spiritually Fortified to Give a Bold Witness." It was delivered by guest speaker Howard Zenke, a representative of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York. A man paints with his brains and not with his hands. Michelangelo |
