This reviewer saw it Saturday, but it still carried the freshness of opening night. It was just that -- - fresh, and fun, and fabulous. Well, of course, fabulous. After all, what else could a show with songs from the fifties be but fabulous? The play more just a show than a play-i- s the story of a singing quartet from that era, who, by a stroke of rotten luck, were killed en route to a performance by a bus load of Catholic school girls on their way to see the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Now, they, Plaid, are years later. If you were fortunate permitted to perform their numbers some thirty-fou- r enough - like I was - to live through the fifties, you will remember each of the songs with fondness. But, if you were born too late, you probably have heard them as part of the "oldies." And, if you have never heard them, you will still love them. songs Rememto in "Moments the "Catch a Coins "Three Fountain," like, "Cry," Falling Star," ber." Fun songs like "Chain Gang," "Sixteen Tons," "Papa Loves Mambo." Those great The list goes on and on. calypso songs, "Matilda," and "Day-O.- " The way they are performed, however, is the real treat. Those guys meaning Nathan Dunford, Scott Wilson, Blake Draper, and Stan Peck are as smooth as a velvet glove on a mink stole. They grab you right from the beginning of the show, and you dont move until they let you move. In the meantime, you are enthralled, enraptured, enriched, and entertained. You dont want the fun to end, but it does -- - a swift one hour and twenty minutes later, leaving you smiling and happy that you came. The plays artistic and music director is our own David C. Dahlquist, a name style at the piano, synonymous with quality. He thrills the audience with his concert-qualit- y sets the mood and accompanies with grace and ease. Bill Lowe, as Uncle Chester, the bass fingers to complete the duo, which is the extent of player, lends his abundantly-talente- d the orchestra.
