Roger Roper of the Utah State Historical Society stated that Peteet-eAcademy is one of the premier preservation projects in the state s he handed a check for over $3,000 to Dr. Gordon Taylor on be-a- lf of the People Preserving Peteetneet during last weeks Payson Ity Council Meeting. Roper said that the Historical Society points to Peteetneet as a tnodel for other projects to follow because so much effort has gone into the preservation of the building during the past few years and the work has been of extremely high quality. et Jonathan M. Frandsen, of Denise Willey, recently presented his Suzuki Recital for book two, at his home. Assisting him were Paul, on the, piano; Stephen, on the piano and cello; and Elisabeth, on the piano and violin. v Jonathan has studied violin with Mrs. Willey for two and a half years. , He studies voice with Beverly Thomas, where he is a member of the Utah Valley Childrens Choir. He is active in soccer, basketball and baseball during the year. He is a student at Larsen Elementary School, where he is in Miss McDougal s fourth grade. He is the son of Tracy and Patricia Frandsen and the grandson of Virginia and the late B. Davis Evans. , Mrs. Denise Willey, his teacher, has a degree in music from the University pf Utah. She has taught music in the public schools for 1 1 years and violin privately for 22 , years. Denise also conducts the Junior Orchestra for the Utah Valley Childrens Chou. For the past 4 summers, she has conducted an excellent childrens orchestra in Payson. , Mother Of Santaquin Resident Named "Woman Of The Year" A Santaquin resident has reason to be proud this month. His mother was named ' ' ' "Woman of the Year" in Washington County, Utah. ; Frank Staheli, of Santaquin, attended the honors ceremony in Washington. His mother, Mary Esther Staheli, lives in Washington. Staheli said his mother is very active in her community.. He said she was raised in St. George and moved to Washington when she was ma ried. She has lived there ever since. Staheli said his mother received the award from the St. George Chamber of Comi merce. He said the chamber gives out a number of honorary awards each year. j Staheli is a B YU Student life employee. Will He serves as a database programmer for Student Life Computing. ITAPy NEWS JEFFERY D. MECHAM, 20, son of Ralph Mecham, Payson, Utah, and Mecham, Spanish Fork, Utah, has enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserve for six years, according to his recruiter, Staff Sgt. Alan Griffith. Mecham enlisted through the Reserve Delayed Entry Program and will report for active duty in March. His specialty in the Reserve will be as a Personnel Action Specialist. The new recruit is a graduate of Payson High School and lists earning money for college and skill training as his primary reasons for enlisting into the Reserve. La-Vi- na CHRISTOPHER S. CLEMENS, 18, . son of Paula Standifird, Payson, Utah, has enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserve for six years, according to his recruiter. Staff Sgt. Alan Griffith. Clemens enlisted through the Army Delayed Entry Program and will report for duty in May.
