It took a lengthy discussion to determine who should be responsible to find the dog. Cindy Madsen Jones, who is the prop manager for PCT, got the assignment. She recruited the help of Cindy Rae Jones, who is the make-uconsultant for this musical. Cindy and Cindy Rae began their search which lasted nearly eleven hours and took in almost 140 miles of travel. They checked pet shops, dog pounds, kennels, and animal shelters. At one place they saw the perfect dog. It was an airdale just like in the movie. The only problem was that a sign was posted above his pen that WARNING - BITER1 said, They envisioned taking that dog and having him eliminate half of the cast during his first training session with them. Time was running out so they started calling all the places that they could find in the Salt Lake directory. They thought that maybe if they started with the Zs they would have better luck. After some two hours in a phone booth they called the last possible animal pound in the book (which was actuallv the first one in the As, but since they had started with the Zs, it was last!!). The lady on the other end of the phone said , Yes , I have just the dog you are looking for. He was picked up and brought in three days ago. The Jones ladies drove to that last shop and the last stop before closing time, and there was the PERFECT SANDY Ist: state-wid- f .?'.v x?J & I &- &&& ?
