fired as a signal for the people to assemble on the public square the star spangled banner banners and other national airs were played by the brass band i the mie meeting was called to order by col eli whipple whippie e when on motion robert gardner esq was chosen chairman and james G bleak secre secretary tary on taking the chair the presiding officer briefly stated that the object of the meeting was to consider the propriety of uniting with our f olow fellow citizens throughout the territory in order to adopt means for obtaining a state government for utah that she may take her proper
