May 28th and 30th, at the Pay son City race track. Post time for both days is set for 2 p.m. This will be the 9th running of the Memorial Day races at Payson. Originated by the Jaycees in 1968, the Memorial Day races have become one of the major racing events of the mountain west racing circuit. Bevans last game Lions end baseball season in fifth place Brad Moore The Lions of Payson ended their full season this week in action State Tournament against the Uintah Utes in their third game of tournament play. On Friday, Payson went against Murray High School and were found on the low score. Murray end of the went ahead early with a 0 score in the first inning. Payson came back in the third to make it 1 by a score By 4-- 3 2-- 2-- from Dennis DeGraw. In the fifth, Murray unloaded again with an and pulled ahead overthrow to third base, and then a single to center field. Payson made a good try again in the seventh on a series of walks off the Murray pitcher which scored two runners, but the Murray came together on the last strikeout, and Payson went down to defeat with their score. Payson seemed to make it work for them on Saturday, and came up with their only win in the double elimination tournament as they defeated Dixie High School by a score of Craig Buys was the winning pitcher for the Lion squad as he gave up only four hits throughout the contest. Payson High School can certainly be proud of a man and a team that have done their best and have represented us all well, both as a studentbody and Payson Junior High School track team has had an outstanding Spring season. They have completed the track season undefeated.
