They arrived that morning by plane from her home, where he had joined her after BYU recessed for the holidays. His parents met them at the Salt Lake Airport and brought them to Payson. Young Decker is a student at BYU. Miss Barrett is employed in Provo. They plan to be married in June. Gunilla Simmons celebrated her 85th birthday recently as a dinner guest at the home of her daughter. Edith, and husMrs. band. Bryant Decker. Decker shares the birth date with her mother. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Christensen recently spent several days in Logan with their daughter, Deanna, and her husband, Gordon Hodgson. While there, Mr. Christensen assisted Gordon in his Machine and Iron Works, where work on a playground contract is being completed. Mr. and Mrs. McKay tensen welcomed a new Chrisgrand- child on Jan. 1st, when their daughter. Josephine Ann. and her husband, Dr. Merrill Oaks of Provo, became parents of a son. their ninth child. granddaughter, Kris- ten Shuler of Payson. Thefifth Nelson daughter, Maurine ( rimmet, and her husband Tim Brimmet, of Idaho Falls isited in Payson with their mother and other relatives during the holidays. 'V (' .V Junior High Personality Awards Randee Muhlesteln, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Muhlesteln, and Susan Andrus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Andrus, were chosen as Payson Junior High Schools ninth grade personalities of the month for December. Chosen as personalities from the eighth grade were Gregg Hiatt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Hiatt, and Wendl Worthen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Worthen. Students are chosen from each class by the school personnel to become citizens of the month on their personal merits of academics and leadership. Wilson is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd C. Mr. Orton spoke, representing the board, and told us how much the hospital appreciates what we do for them and if we need anything we should ask the board. Beth Huish, a retired teacher, discussed education in the schools before the members of the Club. in her discusion of education she told of the reasearch she had done, schools she had visited, spoke of the many changes that had been made in the school system in the passing years. She related some of her personal experiences at home and during the year she spent in Wales as an exchange teacher. She also discussed the open school vs the closed school and some of the inequalities in the public schools. Mrs. Darrell Zeeman, president, conducted the meeting and welcomed all present. Mrs. Joseph Menlove gave the Club Collect and Mrs. Dick Saunders led the pledge of allegiance. Refreshments were served by hostesses, Mrs. LeFevre and Mrs. Vola Butler to the 10 members and guest present. Spring Lake DUP The Spring Lake Camp DUP held their meeting Monday afternoon, Jan. 10, at the home of Viola Cowan. In the absence of Camp Captain, Louise Fiefield, Mrs. Cowan conducted the meeting. She welcomed all the members present and also led the singing. Prayer was by Lenora Huish. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Della Mower. Mrs. Cowan read the biography of Mary Helen Niblet Huish, her The lesson, Firm in the Faith was a given by Ilia Bascom. She gave the interesting life story of Dorris Hendricks. Hostesses serving refreshments were Mrs. Cowan and Mary Kotter. There were 10 present. Dru-cill- Phi Delta Cultus An evening was enjoyed by the Phi Delta Cultus Club last Thursday night, Jan, 15th, at the Zions Bank. The speaker for the evening was Mrs. Pat Rupper, a college graduate and woman, who gave the club an entertaining book review. The title of the book was Your Erroneous Zones by Dr. Wayne Dyer, one of the 1 Best Sellers of 1976. She told of how Dr. Dyer tells of guilt and worry as some of todays worst problems. A quote from Dr. Dyers book was, I can control my thoughts, My thoughts control my feelings. I can control my feelings. Everyone felt very enlightened and anxious to buy or else read this book. Mrs. Rupper should be complimented for such an enjoyable review. A business matter was then brought up by Lois Knuteson concerning an ambulance fund donation.
