Santaquin Fire Chief Val Broadhead reports the department has obtained a 1976 Dodge One-To- n Drive that once served Utah Power and light as a service vehicle but has been completely revamped by the Santaquin department to serve its needs. "The new vehicle hasnt cost the taxpayer a cent," reports Chief Broadhead. "Along with the gift of the truck itself, which was largely due to the efforts of local UP&L Director Rod Torgerson, we received a donation of plate steel from Geneva Steel, and a tank and hose reel from the State Lands and Forestry Service. Our Ladies Auxiliary have contributed money raised at the dances they have been holding, and our Police Department donated a light bar. Along with these valuable contributions, we have been able to pay other costs with money raised at our annual Mud Digs during Cherry Days." Chief Broadhead emphasizes that many hours and much expertise were donated by the firemen who painted and rehabilitated the vehicle. The firemen and five department consists of twenty-fiv- e reserves.
