Show The Payson Chronicle, August 9, 1989, Page 3 Payson City Council Notes The Payson City Council put a moratorium on the use of water for residential development in the golf course area. "I want a moratorium placed on the use of the third share of water the city has for the spring, said Councilman Steve Hanson. The golf course uses the majority of the water, with enough left over for eight residences. According to Hanson, the Dixon Springs has almost reached its limit. The moratorium will be in effect until Payson City develops water resources to develop growth. Councilman Mez Stewart said that if a moratorium were on the water, then it would "shut down development and not let it happen." Councilman Kent Fuellen-bac- h explained that it would put a moratorium on the "use of the water, not on the building of residences." Payson owns 13 of the Dixon Springs. After projected city use, there is enough water left for eight residences. Rather than having to choose which new home would get the water, the moratorium was placed in effect until new water resources can be developed. "If someone is innovative with their development to come up with water, well be happy to listen," said Fuellenbach. Other issues for development that were considered were the garbage pickup, clean-u- p of roads in the winter, maintenance on the grounds and surrounding area. "There are just a great many problems on a larger scale, in addition to water, to consider before development can be started up around Gladstan," said Hanson. Regarding another matter, the Council unanimously approved the city administrator contract. The Clinton Dansie Subdivision was approved. The council approved Steve Spencer as a volunteer fireman.
