The 4A Bruins of Mountain View counted on the height of Pollard, though, to crush the Lions hopes for a championship, and Pollard proved able to live up to those expectations as he towered over everyone and shot well besides. The Lions have no one over which is a full seven inches under Pollard. Payson did spark some interest in the final quarter, mark reaching that they had established in both middle against quarters Jordan. But the Bruins had lead by amassed a twenty-poin- t halftime to make those points meaningless as far as the outcome of the game was concerned. twenty-thre- e Brent Bailey was named to School the Payson High Thanksgiving Tournament Team, and the Lions took toursecond in the nament as the 1986-8prep basketball season got underway last week. The Lions, with no returning starters, pulled out an upset against Jordan Friday then lost to night, in the Mountain View, finals. Saturday night Bailey led the team in scoring both nights, taking the ball inside against a bigger team Friday, and making the fast break pay off in the second half against Mountain View, along with two three-poiplays Saturday. He scored eighteen Friday and twenty-fiv- e Saturday. The new three-poirule proved a fine innovation for junior Troy Gas r who came off the bench Friday to hit four from beyond the circle, tallying 17 altogether. Saturday night, Brett White hit one to go with Baileys two. While Mountain View and Payson squared off in the championship round, Pine View defeated Jordan in the consolation game Saturday, after having lost to Mountain View, Friday night.
