One gift we should provide is the assurance that their vision is the best it can be. In order to help parents do this, the Health Department is offering a free vision screening clinic on May 29th. It will be held at Barnett Elementry in Payson, Santaquin Elementry in Santaquin and at Goshen School in Goshen, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The purpose of this clinic is to check for Amblyopia and other vision problems of the four year old children who will NOT be entering kindergarten in the fall. Those who go to kindergarten will received this same examination once they have entered school. While great strides have been a made in the detection of are there still (Lazy Eye), thousands of preshcooi children who are not screened each year in Utah. On April 27th the Payson Jr. High Orchestra and the two Middle School Orchestras (7th and 6th grades) traveled to Ephraim, Utah, to compete in the Snow College Orchestra Festival. Out of a dozen orchestras participating, only five "Superior" ratings were awarded. Youll find you must develop skills and personal qualities to help you get ahead Miss Shannon Dawn Barnett, age 9, daughter of Glenn and Connie Brandon Barnett, of Payson, Utah, has been selected to be a contestant in the 1984 Utah American Beauty Pageant to be held June 9, 1984, at the Tri Arc Hotel, Salt Lake City. The Utah American Beauty Pageant is the official state preliminary for the National ' BURNS FAT WHILE YOU SLEEP andforeducation National Guard return helping your country, Payson Jr. High Orchestra earning the highest score of the entire Three Festival, 40 out of 40. trophies for these superior ratings are to be presented to Payson Jr. High and Payson Middle School for their fine Orchestras. On May 2nd, the above three orchestras joined with the Payson Elementary School Orchestra to perform a Spring Concert. The Elementary Orchestra is made up of the beginning string students from the Payson area elementary schools combined into one large orchestra. Over 100 students performed such numbers as: "Bach's Brandenburg Concerto 3, selections from Fiddler on You Light up My the Roof, AnaModal Festival, Life, for and then joined gram Strings, for a Grand Finale Number: Its a Small World. Denise Willey is the director for the. Orchestra Program of all Payson area schools. This is Mrs. Willey's first year teaching in the Nebo School District. Music teachers hold elections Colleen Money was elected president of the Nebo Chapter of the Utah Music Teachers Association. Lori Serr is vice president; Nina Lewis, secretary; Lynette Morrill, reporter; Suzanne Robertson, recital chairman; and Elsie Bird, student achievement chairman. These officers will serve for the 1984-8- 5 year. Morrill hosted the Lynette chapter meeting at her home on May 17th. She presented a demonstration of Sneaking the composers through the back door, giving suggestions on teaching interesting stories about the composers during a students lesson.
