Show T" The - Thanksgiving Un-Stuff- ed Grangerifes Tell Of HowTo Eaf Well, And Yet Keep Away From The Calories by Michele Bartmess The holidays are taking on a new and perhaps expanded meaning at the Bill Bradford home in Granger this year. The giving of thanks may be largely related to the progress made by the couples first child, Rachael Lynn. Rachael came into the world quite unexpectedly on the afternoon of July 22nd . . . some two months before she was full term and only three short weeks after Bill and Madeline learned of her approaching arrival. prepare for their new blessing, she was a welcome one. Bill and Madeline had waited until they felt prepared for the important task of equipment he obtained while but a boy, however. Shell always know shes loved, Bill tells, referring to his child. We want her to grow up with a healthy outlook on men as well as women. And I want to be close to my child. Bill bathes the baby, dresses her and shows no fear of caring for her with or without the presence of his wife in the home. While Rachael came into the world needing to gain weight, her parents are hoping that she will not have to face the weight problems that both of them faced during their young adult years. Problems that both have conquered. In her home she is not likely to pick up bad eating habits because of the war waged by both parents. Madeline says that Bill doesnt like chocolate, which if she allowed herself, would be her major weakness. Before their marriage both lost excess pounds that neither has put back parenting. Married five years, they learned to share their lives and took on added maturity before planning for a baby. Madeline did not realize she was pregnant because the one monthly sign that most women rely on as the first signal of pregnancy is simply not a part of her monthly life. When she spent several months not feeling quite right and then had other signs on her body that were not on. Bill attributes some WEST VALLEY VIEW 3B weight loss. Although they had little time to normal, she consulted a doctor and found that the two of them were already a long way along the pathway of becoming parents. To further compound the situation, she carried the baby more to the back than the front. And when born, the child weighed only three pounds, two ounces. Rachaels arrival has brought about a dramatic change of lifestyle for the young couple. Planning is an important part of her plan to stay trim. I just dont buy things that will be a problem for us. When we have desserts, it usually consists of fruit, Madeline tells. In addition, the busy mother finds time to exercise about 45 minutes each day. Bill relies on his natural enjoyment of outdoor activities and his work to help him keep in shape. Madeline said the family will enjoy Thanksgiving in much the same fashion as any other. But while the rest of us are stuffing ourselves on the leftovers, Madeline may be involved in a two-da- y juice fast. And before the holiday, she and Bill will carefully watch what they eat. Madeline said she joined the Weight Watchers program to help her lose. It worked and although she is no longer active in the organization she still relies on the major premises the group operates under and she still uses many of the recipes. Bill chimed in that the food is extremely good. Her anxious parents could do nothing but wait and hope. Once it was clear that the youngster would make it, Bill and Madeline were able to make final preparations for her arrival at their home.
