Show rfrm Page Valley View News 4 The longest day In the year dawned with a bland yellow sunrise peeping over the Wasatch mountains. A slight warm balmy air settled over the valley. Mot for long as cooling somber clouds gathered to deposit a sudden summer thunder shower, with huge livid quaker. colored drops. Thus the day went along alternating between Intervals of welcome sunshine and dubious wet spells. First off we ever slept, but arrived at our destination only one minute late. A real achievement. To greet us was home made cookies Slgna Atwood brought Delicious and lovely to look at, just like a prize along. winning blue ribbon display and an Albertsons counter dls- - , play. Slgna says she made them from scratch. She never likes packaged mixes they never turn out to please her. Everyone discussed .the weather. Bonnie Parker said she wished the sun would shine or do something so her strawberries wouldnt look like green peas. We looked at a crocheted dress costing nine dollars to make worth one hundred dollars when finished. Well - - - It turned out to be quite a day. Late afrernoon we attended the Granger Fiesta with Marlene and Elolse. While enjoying ice cream cones we milled around looking at the sights. Then we had a hamburger and potatoe chips. We greeted Melva Thaxton and happy, happy, there was A'rland and Earlene Thaxton with tiny tots Connie. Lee. and Todd. Shortly Walt Thaxton joined the group. We chatted with Bert and Jean West. Watched Gary West paint a picture on the spinning wheel. We al trid our luck, of what a funny surprise. We tried the Sconuts - - another new taste experience. The special batter is like donut dough. Roll it out into a, rectangle, or square, or diamond or whatever. Put cooked wheat and jam in the middle, roll it up and drop it In deep fat. When nice and brown like a doughnut color take It out of the fatand roll it in sugar. It turns Into a taste treat. We had to go home and spruce up for a wedding. Later we arrived at Crestwood Villa with Ward and Marlene underneath suspicious skies. A cook walk indoors, and there was the wedding party! Lovely, lovely! Mrs. Barton the brides mother wore a flame colored gown trimmed in seMrs. Wolfe, the grooms mother .wore a shell pink quins. gown with delicate shell pink trimming. The men wore white jackets and dark trousers. The bridesmaids wore soft yellow. The bride Darlene Louise Barton and the groom Marvin La Mar Wolfe, were charming. We rated a kiss from the groom, two or three, right on the lips. We kissed the bride. Oh, it is a joy to attend the wedding of the son of our friend Myrtle winters Wolfe, whom we knew in our childhood years, way back in the days of the orchard and the Grand Duchess. 't-- n fv rr.'x' y . ; r ''r4 t v Chicken Salad Taper-Of- f unflavored teaspoon pepper gelatine envelope 4 cup cold water cups cooked chicken in chunks cup boiling water 1 can ( 10V4 ounces) condensed xi cup celery pieces cream of mushroom soup y4 green pepper, cut in pieces 1 1 slice onion tablespoon lemon juice 2 tablespoons diced pimiento y4 teaspoon salt Sprinkle gelatine over cold water in blender container. Add boiling water; cover and process at low speed until gelatine dissolves. Add undiluted mushroom soup, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Cover and process at high speed until smooth. Add chicken, ceiery, green pepper and onion. Cover and chop by turning to high speed and off several times. Stir in pimiento. mold. Chill until firm. Unmold and serve with Turn into salad greens and tomato wedges. YIELD: 4 servings, 180 calories each. King crab. Delicious! And what a great wav to serve it A devilishly good dish ieaturing juicy chunks of Alaska King crab. Either fresh or frozen crab fits perfectly with plenty of flavor to savor in every bite. For a convenient company menu prepare the deviled crab base ahead of time. Add the crab just before serving in individual shells or ramekins. Heat thoroughly for about 10 minutes ami serve, right out of the shells. Guests will be sure to enjoy this serving twist and the good eating they'll find in Alaska King crab.
