Were you at all concerned when you read that there was to be a lynching in Kearns? If so, you will be relieved to know that the only thing that will be mung in Kearns during the next few weeks, other than the family wash, will be a dumOld Kearns. my, symbolizing The dummy will hang over 5415 South by the Kearns Shopping Center to call attention of all residents to the fact that the time has come to cleanup, paint up and fix up. The schedule date for the hanging is April 18th. All clubs, churches and individuals are working together in this campaign as never before, and you will certainly want to be part of it. Elaborate plans have been made to usher in the Clean Up the night of April 22. At this time, Old Kearns" will be ushered out and Proud New Kearns will be welcomed in with a spirit- of festivity and celebration. One of the highlights of the evening will be the lighting of a gigantic fire on the western slopes of Kearns which will be ivsible throughout the entire valley. Although a certain element of mystery still surrounds the campaign, many facts are coming out into the open, and one thing is sure! Spring will really be welcomed with community spirit and enthusiasm this year! Included in the plans for the Clean Up Campaign, which will run from April 22 through May 2, will be the pick up of trash by county trucks, hauling away of aid cars and scrap metal, sales by merchants, and a contest for the most beautiful block at the end of the campaign. The contest will be judged b ythree prominent county residents a trophy will be awarded to the best block, and a dozen petunias will be given to each home on the block. Under the direction of the Chamber of Commerce, with Al- t (7 - len Anderson chairman, each civic organization will carry out a certain phase of the program, with the complete cooperation of all wards and churches in the community. Jay Gould was elected treasurer for the campaign at last weeks meeting. A complete list of projects and organizations in charge will be carried next week. Gordon eLonard west-sid- e supervisor for county roads, has urged all residents to keep cars off the roads throughout the campaign to faciiltate more efficient trash pickup, and so that sweeker trucks may clean the streets. Mr. Leonard has also announced that graders will be available to smooth baseball diamonds in the area. Those interested are asked to call him.
