Show Thursday September 5, 1963 i i Pago 7 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS KEARNS TOWN COUNCIL NEWS The Kearns Town Council, in its August 5, 1963 meeting, passed the following resolution: Be it resolved, that the Kearns Town Council is not oposed to the idea of a Salt Lake County Civic Auditorium, but are opposed to the following conditions that exist in the proposed plan for the Salt 'Lake County Civic Auditorium and Sports Arena. 1. The governing body of the proposed auditorium according to of Utah Code paragraph dealing with Civic Auditorium and Sports Arena Districts gives to the appointed board perpetual succession. 2. In the title of this act Civic Auditorium and Sports Arena, there is no mention of a conven tion center and only within the of this act whijch paragraph states along with other purposes., does it mention conventions. It also states for the benefit of the' residents of the county, and no where does it purport to be. for the bene; fit of the business interests. 3. In the study conducted by' the Salt Lake City 'Salt. Lake County Auditorium Committee entitled The Missing Link on page, 63, part 7, Site Criteria is a list of commonly accepted criteria. In only two of the ten criteria mentioned does the downtown site excell: (a) on Page 7) convenient pedestrian access, and him in(Continued the coming years.
