The girls spent Saturday night at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado and left Sunday morning for Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. The highlight of their stay there will be the four hours flight time they will receive in a 3 Jet Trainer. Other activities at the base will include instruction on military' air transport service, career information, observation of a crash demonstration, and attendance at social functions planned in their, honor. . Vandals entered a vacant warehouse west of Kearns during the week of July 29th and destroyed the beautiful float of the Kearns Jaycees, which was scheduled' to enter the Salt Lake County parade on August 20th. The float, which carried Miss Kearns and her attendants, had won first place in its division in the Days of 47 Parade and an award for most beautiful float in the Kearns Stake Parade. The pillagers ripped all the decorations from the float bed and destroyed or stole part of the motor. Four tires and wheels were 6tolen. Seat cushions and screens on the float were slashed havagely, and parts of the float were scattered throughout the warehouse and the street. Many parts, including five pillars, were missing. It is required this schedule be followed. A to E, 8 to 9:30 a.m. iF to J, 9:30 to 10:30 K to N, 10:30 to 12:00 O to S, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. T to Z, 2:30 to 3:30. Students who cannot meet the required schedule for any EMERGENCY REASON, may register on the 23rd, at the designated alphabetical time. - 14-ye- ar Valley Swim Club A social and get acquainted party will be held Saturday night at the Valley Swim Club. All members and. their families are invited to attend and bring along a friend. The affair will start at 6 p.m. and last till 10 p.m. Those attending are requested to bring your own f6od and facilities will be available for its preparation. A number of additions and improvements are underway at the club. A new fence has been constructed around the swimming pool dnd- - the . apron has been enlarged. Patio and . The Jaycees are tracing clues to the whereabouts of the vandals and are offering a $5.00 reward to anyone who can furnish information leading to their apprehension. Kearns Jaycee-ette- s to Meet A membership meeting of the Kearns Jaycee-ette- s will be held on Wednesday, August 21, at the home of President Marie Lindhardt. Maxine Allred and Sally Nelson will serve as hostesses. (Incidentally, best wishes for a speedy recovery to Carl Nelson who was recently hopitalized with a shoulder injury.) -- Calabash Cousins Entertain SL Pauls The Calabash Cousins will en- tertain at a luau for St. PauPs Lutheran Church on August 23rd. Green Thumbers Enjoy Bingo Game The Kearns Green Thumbers met last Thursday evening at the home of President Glenn Sarbo. In place of their usual guest speaker, they had a white elephant bingo. Refreshments were served and everyone had a good time. During the business meeting, held before the bingo, the club decided to hold meetings on the second Thursday of each month instead of the first. All of the members agreed that they preferred to continue having prominent guest Speakers in the gardening field at their monthly meetings. Other plans were discussed for the future, including the possibility of a canyon party in the very near future. |
