The founder and present pastor is Donald R. Anderson. Services have been held each Sunday at' 7 p.m. On July 3, 1957, work began on the new church building located at 5242 South 4820 West. At this time, the congregation started worshiping in a tent located on the church property. As the fall weather approached, it was too cold to continue in the tent, so the Congregation returned to the Community Hall. Work progressed during the winter months and on February 9, 1958 the first services were held in the new church building, which was a combination chapel and Sunday School building. The men of the church donated much of the labor and the ladies helped by serving the meals. The congregation has continued to grow and plans are underway to add additional Sunday School rooms, and eventually a new sanctuary. Shortly after this, Wade Spring-borstudent pastor of Westminster College, Salt Lake City, was assigned to Kearns. He served for two years and saw the building program of the church become a reality. Groundbreaking was held in September, 1957. Consecration Services with Bishop Clenn R. Phillips, and Supt. Jackson as the guests,., were held in December, n, present pastor. In the face of steady growth of the church, a new unit will soon be constructed. Ladies1 Civic Club Plans Future Events At the monthly meeting of the Ladies Civic Club, Wednesday, July 13, the agenda for the following year was planned. The First Baptist Church of Kearns was org.nized as a mission of Rose Park Baptist Church in the summer o i 1955. Rev. Roy J. Ferguson was the first pastor. Rev. Ferguson arrived from Texas in September of 1955. The mission was organized as a Church September, 1956, with 38 charter members. Rev.
