Lamont B. Gunderson recently announced his intentions of entering the Utah gubernatorial race. Commissioner Lamont B. Gundersons accomplishments during his eight years administration: 1. A modem sewerage system throughout the entire county. 2. At the beginning of his administration there were one thousand miles of roads in a deplorable state of disrepair today the county has grown to the extent that there are seventeen hundred miles of condition. roads all in first-clas- s 3. Has built and equipped three new fire stations, with the most fire fightmodem and ing equipment. 4. Placed in operation a new and efficient asphalt plant. 5. Purchased forty acres of land on which has been erected for the econominacal operation of garage, shops and administration offices, all paid for. 6. When he took office he inherited a $250,000.00 deficit, which is now paid. He has never raised the mill levy, nor increased his budget, but actually decreased it, in 1960 by $125,000.00. In face of this, through economy, planning and engineering, has increased the pay of his employees each year, and the county is now free from debt. Troop 314 Honors first five as Eagle Scouts i Five young men of the Kearns North Stake 'from Troop 314 will become Eagle Scouts at the Court of Honor April 20th. They are Wally Lloyd, Larry Miller, Steven Player, DeLoy Walker, and Jimmie Keech. These boys are the first boys of 314 to become Eagle Scouts. Much credit should go to the scoutmaster. Even though he works shift work, he has found time to be with the boys and help them achieve this goal. This Art Festival is being sponsored every other year by the Granite School District. At the Kearns Jr. High School art works from the four Kearns elementary schools as well as from the Magna and Webster Elementary Schools will be on display.
