Schramm, state director, U.S. Savings Bonds Division, has stated. Under the proposed exchanges effective after January 1, payment of income taxes on the increase in value may be deferred until the Series H 'bonds are finally redeemed or disposed of, or until the taxable year of final maturity, whichever is earlier, according to the Treasury Department announcement. Mr. Schramm pointed out that these exchanges may be made without regard to the annual limitation of $10,000 of Series H bonds which may currently be purchased. This is in addition to the regulation now in effect whereby holders of maturing Series G bonds may exchange them for Series H bond:, without regard to the annual limitation. This new ruling will allow savings bond owners to exchange from accumulation bonds to an income-producin- g security, one which may be redeemed at par or face value any time after six months upon one months written notice. The Series H is a ten year old bond, the interest on which is paid by check each six months. It pays 3 when held to maturity: over the first 1 y2 years, then 4 2V2 the remaining 8l2 years. It is a registered bond, issued in denominations of $500, $1,000, and $10,000, and the purchaser has the privilege or beneof naming a ficiary.
