Sheila McNeil is president of the group. Other officers include Denna Cummings, Rosann Chaves, secretary; Sandra Porter, song leader; Geraldine and Shirley Dicky, health chairmen; Josephine Chaves, recreation, and Peggy McNeil, reporter. Mrs. Shirley Anderson is the leader of the group assisted by Mrs. Venice Gayler. The project of the group is cooking and the theme is First Call to Breakfast. As their health project they adopted good grooming. On June 16th the group attended a food demonstration. They meet every Thursday at 2 p.m. and todays meeting will be held at the home of Geraldine and Shirley Dicky. 4-- H Local Lovelies Selected Tor Magna Celebration Three lovely local were selected as ladies young to reign over the Magna royalty, Independence Day Celebration, at Lagoon Friday, as one of the highlights of the Kennecott annual Field Day Outing. Thirteen girls entered the competition and were judged on poise, personality, appearance, charm and beauty. Judges of the contest were Mr. A. W. Rutherford, Cass Daly, and Mrs. Fern Rutherford, all of Salt Lake City. The girls appeared and were judged in evening gowns at the dance that was held in the evening. Water Stage Two new contenders for the Founders Day Queen title are the Andrews twins, Karon and Sharon. Founders Day Queen lected Tonight The coronation of the Founders Day Queen will be held this evening at a Coronation Dinner at the Kearns Jr. High at 8 p.m. The crowning of the queen will follow a dinner that will be served by the WSCS of the Trinity Methodist Church. The dinner is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. Dinner tickets have been available through the WSCS of the Ladies Sivic Club at the most of $1.50 for adults and 75 cents for children. The proceeds from the dinner will go towards landscaping the grounds of the Trinity Methodist Church. Voting for the girls running for the queen title will be open until about 6 p.m. this evening. Be sure and vote for the girl you want for Founders Day Queen. She will be a student at the Kearns Jr. High next year. Linda Slick, 13, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Slick, 4980 So. 4980 West. She is also a Jr. High student. Claudia Hill, 13, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hill, 4775 W. 5100 South, is a Jr. High student. Marjorie at s. Bawden, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Bawden, 5527 So. 4220 West, is a student at Granger High. Blanch Masse, 13, daughter of and Mrs. R. E. Masse, 5057 Alex St., is a student at the Kearns Jr. High. There is a nice array of gifts that have been donated by several of the civic organizations and verious groups. These gifts have been on display in the window of Decs Department Store. All of the girls were given corsages by McDonald Floral of Magna. The new queen was crowned by Sherre Moesser, who was last years reigning queen. The girls who were contestants were Ileene Evans, Christine Florence, Winnie Jensen, Gloria Wail, Ann Swensen, Cora Jean Yates, Emma Maye Johnson, Judy Flor-ancCarolyn Williams, Charlene Brown and Beverly Bietell. The reigning royalty will ride on the Kennecott float for local celebrations at Murray, Bountiful, Midvale and Magna. e, Kearns Phillies Hold First Place The Phillies of the Kearns National WBBA, who are sponsored by Trails Sporting Goods Center, have gained the position as first place team in the first half of the season. Their manager is Ray Neu-bolwith Dave Quarnburg and K. Fullmer, as the coaches.
