ainest him for the murder of james johhson johnson Joh naon and asked if be he had bad employed counsel to defend him mr ferguson replied that he be and mr mills would defend the prisoner al mr r milla mills gave notice that a motion to quash the indictment would be filed and asked till tilt next monday to do so the court observed that they chev could have till 2 in the afternoon to file the motion the case of harrington vs gordon in ejectment was called up mr air williams counsel for defendant m moved oved to dismiss because the complaint did not set forth that the premises in question qi estion were rented or leafed motion overruled by the court and defendant required to answer mr air williams gave notice that he be should accept of the ruling defendants answer filed died mr air stout counsel for plaintiff filed a demurrer to we answer which was argued at some length the court sustained the demurrer so far aa as to direct the answer amended by leaving out all extraneous and irrelevant matter amended answer filed defendants counsel demand demanded rd a jury to try the case court directed the clerk to issue a venire returnable at 2 pm to which time court took d recess 2 PM
