| Show SCHOOL TEACHERS association G S L CITY crry oct 29 1860 EDITOR DES NEWS DEAR SIR sim knowing the lively interest you have always felt in with the work of education among this isol isolated atod community induces me to report the recent organization of the deseret school teachers association which has for its object 6 promote the advancement and concentrate the efforts of school teachers in this city and as opportunities tuni toni ties offer acut the territory to correspond with societies of a similar character wherever established and also to aim at a the attainment of uniformity in conn exio with the practice of school teaching by means of lectures lessons essays readings illustrations and criticisms constitution ETC this association shall consist of a president two vice presidents Secreta secretary and treasurer to be elected semiannually semi annually annual y on the ath of april and ath of october and an unlimited number of members who are or have I 1 been practical school teachers ad the following shall be honorary members viz the Chancell chancellor orp ory and board of regents of the peteet university the superintendent Inte in of common schools count county superintendents of schools the beveral several boards ards of examination the public reporters and members of the press with such others as the president and vice presidents shall deem pro proper er as ad each member of the association shall be entitled to vote in relation to all questions pertaining to the control of its affairs and be responsible for his quota of the expenses incurred ath ten members in rotation shall have the privilege of admitting a friend jo to the weekly meetings by ticket eth this association adopts the tho two tivo third rule in voting BYLAWS BY LAWS 1 the association shall meet every friday evening at 7 2 A quorum shall consist of one ona fouth fouch of the ordinary members of the association 3 the initiation fee shall be one tine dollar for the benefit of the library 4 the subject of all intended lessons etc wall shall be presented in writing to the pres j deni dent for his bis consideration selection and presentation to the association officers ORSON PRATT JR president JAMES rames CO COBB 7 vice presidents I 1 G W Mo bouley JM ousLEY uLEY S IV WILLES secretary 11 IV CHURCH treasurer i yours faithfully A IV WILLES secretary |
