woman’s work was never Today Ogden women have found a better scheme They are budgeting their time exactly as they budget their household allowances And if the hours won’t stretch they cross a task from the list Mrs Marguerite B Benson execenter cutive of the Home-Makiin New York City of the New York State Federation of Women’s clubs has discovered that nine hours a day will complete any woman’s work in the home — if she budgets her time Sixty-thre- e hours is the weekly amount of time that American women are giving to their homes They accomplishing much more than ?re women of other countries ward 'Ogden Utah as to how the delegates were supposed to be elected The7 chairman answered that the delegates were to be elected from the Fifth ward I suggested to the chairman that the delegates be elected by the districts but the chairman objected to that and he went ahead with the business of starting to elect the delegates They elected fifty-si- x The delegates Fifth ward if I am correctly inso formed is entitled to fifty-tw- o there were four delegates over the One lady got up given" amount and suggested that the delegates be elected by acclamation and the remainder of the delegates would serve as alternates If anybody sees the injustice of that Fifth wart delegation I will consider and sug gest to the voters that it is absolutely a family affair The wives appoint their husbands and the husbands appoint their wives as delegates I didn’t know there were so many people by the name living in Weber county as were appointed as delegates in the Fifth ward Father and son appoint each other as delegates In that whole audience I believe there were only two good Democrats and they were Mr Jake Parker and Mr Gilbert Thatcher They were opposed to such actions in that convention but they were overruled and the things went smooth and nice in the family selections so I do not believe it was a Democratic primary in the Fifth ward it looks like a family affair I had been appointed as a delegate in that convention When I saw the condition as existed 1 withdrew my name from the list I think the voters of Weber county should have their attention drawn to that fact and I do not believe that one or two families have the right or the privilege to appoint the delegates for the people to vote on in their convention It is unfair and undemocratic and I would leave this communication for the people on the general election in Weber county for consideration was surprised to see so many prominent Democrats and business men and even attorneys that stood for the injustice forewoman of her own particular home factory” Mrs Benson argues “Perfect cooperation with her ‘staff’ or children means less work and more leisure all around” Some of the important facts for the homemaker to keep in mind in budgeting her time are given brief- gjj ad-iitio- on WORK LONGER HOURS "The statistics Of the Internation- that the women of Belgium are using from 108 to 119 hours to do the same work which American women accomplish in 63” Mrs Benson explains “In France the time required is from 92 to 115 hours Italy 86 to 110 hours Poland 79 to 91 Roumania 102 Czechoslovakia 105 to 119 Sweden 82 to 119 Switz erland 112 to 118 and Spain 75 to 108 “Time Is the only commodity in which we all hold equal investments” Mrs Benson says “Of course the more demands there are on that time the heavier mortgaged it is we might say But as a rule there are a few simple budget rules that should sao every home maker at least one hour out of every day “In preparing a time budget time must be left for a seasonal budget and weekly budget For instance in the summer there is probably canning to do and in the spring special house cleaning Free periods are needed to work on this Every week has its special tasks for each day such as laundry work on Monday and cleaning on Wednesday Periods for such tasks must be allowed in the routine schedule” Mrs Benson has selected a mother with two or three small children as the basis of the time budget which she has devised The oldest child is 11 years the next 9 years and the baby 14 months old The actual budgeting has been worked out from the laboratory experience of young mothers who have experimented in their own families The nine hour schedule is flexible enough to permit special duties By doubling up a little on her daily tasks and enough time Is permitted to allow her to do so the housewife can do her seasonal work and also her weekly tasks For instance the budget allows one hour for preparing vegetables —more time than actually is needed I -- ng al Home Economics association show BEING WRITTEN Morning session 10 o'clock — Opening music Lois Robinson ) notices Thousand To Leather and welcome address song prayer
