Show cleaning wool SALT SAIT LANE LAKE march 2 1852 EDITOR OF THE drw dear sir I 1 have understood der stood that a great number if not all of the farmers shear their sheep before washing the wool woo winch which is ie a great detriment to the wool because washing after taking it off takes from it all the natural oil and leaves the wool dry and hard and with a loss of a great portion of its strength therefore I 1 would re recommend to all sheep growers to wash their sheep and make the wool as clean as possible then turn the sheep on clean grass land for 8 or 10 days before shearing by that time the wool will be filled with oil from the body of the sheep which makes the wool soft pliable and strong and does riot nut require half as much grease grease to prepare I 1 it for carding H GIBBS |
