were received with a general salute and zen yen then proceeded through the principal lal lai streets of the city accompanied by capt J Thom sons company of cavalry in the following order 1 ogden city band with a beautiful banner inscribed 4 holiness to the lord 2 2 independent band whose tasteful banner bore the inscription july ath 1776 11 3 brass band characterized by its usual fine appearance 4 military firing firine firing salutes at intervals 1 at 6 a liberty deity pole eighty feet long iong on was erected and a splendid flag made bytho by the e ladies of O ogden oden den expressly for the occasion was unfurled to the breeze at 8 the legion under command of M maj J L clark dark paraded upon the public square fan and a passel passed an inspection of arms I 1 at 9 an escort of cavalry under command of C W west marshal of the day formed and proceeded to the mayors residence shellay the mayor and suite were received with a salute by the escort and bands and repaired to the general parade ground where the forces were reviewed and various military evolutions performed at loi the escort mayor and suite and the military proceeded to the bowery where a large concourse of ladies had
