L. (Dick) Romney, football coach at USAC, died Monday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Henry M. Crowther, Los .Angeles, of causes incident to age. A daughter of Hampden Sydney and rfelen Clawson Beatie, early Utah pioneers, she was born Jan. 12, 1859, in Salt Lake She married John H. Horlick Sr., Dec. 2, 1884, who was engaged in the mining industry. Mr. Horlick died in 1936, two years after their golden wedding anniversary. For the last 62 years Mrs. Horlick has lived at 512 South West Temple. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints and was active in Church and social affairs. She is survived by two daughM. Crowther, ters, Mrs. Henry Los Angeles,- - and Mrs. E. L. (Dick) Romney, Logan, and one son, John H. Horlick Jr., Wilmington, Del. Also surviving are four brothers, James M., Mark S., Wilford W. and Frank Beetle, all of Salt Lake, and a sister, Mrs. Florence B. Thatcher, Logan. Four grandchildren and one also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at 260 East South Temple St. Friends may call Saturday from 10 cm. to time of services. Department of Agriculture as it will pertain to the dairy industry today was explained at a meeting in the Newhouse Hotel. Dr. R. H. Walker, director of the Utah Agricultural Experiment Station, was in charge of the meeting which included the producers and processors of dairy products. Along with a decline of some 20 per cent in farm workers, there has been an increase of 30 per cent in total farm production due to modern machinery, farm methods, fertilizer and other improvements. Surpluses are expected in some crops. Backed by millions, the deof agriculture has partment launched a marketing service, research service and educational service designed to grow the crops that are needed and market them over the world. Some ' $26,000,000, part of which depends on state, matching, will be available for the dairy industry, it was explained. Entries for South High's annual Christmas literature contest may be entered until Dec. 9, school officials announced today.
