How long the high level of demand will continue is a matter of speculation, but with a major war yet to be fought in the Pacific, the coal industry, while planning for peace, cannot afford to forget that winning the war is the job of primal importance. COAL, After the war is over, this industry can look forward to the continued brisk business that will follow release labor and materials to satisfy the large pent up demand for goods for civilian uses. Utah coal producing companies already have started on their postwar programs and others are well into their planning stage. While all equipment still is not readily available, much constructiveplanning is Joeing carried forward.' of Never before in the history of this state have the coal mines of Utah been called upon to play so vital a peat in our national life as they hgve today in the winning of the war, for the coal industry of thi state must supply fuel for ships, for use by the Army and Navyr and'for use by .many important war industries located in the western states, along with the domestic requirements of some 3000 western communities. Utah coal mines are amongst the fJesPand most efficiently operated mines in the nation. They are governed, coal mining laws that are excelled in the provision of safety measures by no otherstate. -- Modern state by methods and devices in Utah mines have revolutionized the ease, safety and efficiency coal mines, and the hard work of Utah coal mines is performed by mechanical devices whichAelieve the miners of hard working conditions. Utah coal mines are well ventilated and air maintained at even and healthy temperatures. --J- - -- The Utah coal industry is fully aware of the heavy debt it owes toAhe men who left the mines to fight on the battle frpnts of the world, and to all of those returning veterans the coal industry of Utah extends a warm wel come to themlo return, if they so choose, to their former employment.
