To be perfectly frank, as a guest at this meeting and without Specific prior knowledge as to the history of this Church the reference to Joseph -- Smith and the other Jounders register either positive or could-n- ot nega- tive. I d ou tHifl t m a n d i ffe re n t r from the average of the Church whose sum total of knowledge concerning Joseph Smith was that he was a founder cf the Mormon Church, probably lived in IJtah and probably had more than one wife, Tnc power of prayer as described by Mr. Lee was well taken and thought-provokinThe thought came to me that the prayers of most of us are certainly too infrequent and feeble. The ultimate in prayer is given by Mr. Lee to ask God in the name of Christ for the truth, with a sinceie heart and real intent, the truth will be manifest to you, gave so much to think about that no immediate conclusion could - be reached by me. I wondered if a large amount of mental discipline and preparation would not be necessary involving the opment of the power of concentration before a person could make himself receptive to such communion. The final thought that came to me at this meeting and the one that may make the most lasting impression was that aim of the Church described as the honest endeavor of the members to live the kind of lives which by example is to be the greatest possible contribution towards the influence of Others to lead Christian lives.' Surely one deed is worth thousands of words. Respectfully, v he |
