James A. Wade, construction superintendent of the State Building Board, made this corn- m ent after opening the low bid submitted Jensen by Construc- tion Co., Salt Lake City. A previous bid of $2,035,000 from Paulsen Construction Co. last month was rejected because It exceeded funds available for the job. The specifications, ac- cordingly , were trimmed down by elimination of ceramic tile, cast stone, terrazzo and other The Paulsen bid on the revised specifications and eight other bids were higher than the Jensen bid. Mr. Wade said the bids were turned over to the Board of Regents for review by the executive and building committees in consultation with student officials. The regents will make recommendations to the building board. The university raised $1,800,- 000 for the building through sale of revenue bonds. It also has $500,000 on hand from student fees.
