The house is entered through a large hallway, which opens , , , three ways; into the living room. which is two steps lower than the-ba- ll,Into -t- he- dining room and into the hall connecting the two bedrooms. The most unusual feature of the house, which was designed by Mr. and Mrs. Flandro, is the living room. Opposite the- wide, arched doorway opening into the room is a white tile fireplace trimmed with white wood panels. The mantel Is surmounted low, broad by a large, unframed beveled mirror, and the whole ensemble Is bracketed on either side with French doors which open onto the lawn. MAWR' ES BAY WINDOWS The end of the living room at the front of thee house features a large bay window, framed in casement panels reaching nearly to the floor. The windows are covered with Venetian blinds. Illumination is furnished by floor and table lamps as all drop lights and wall fixtures have been eliminated in keeping with modern decorating trends. The decoration of the livingeoom is In cream and white with furnishings in the early French colonial style. The dining room is featured by heavy apple green hammered silk drapes, supported by cream colored valance boards, which also feature the decoration of the living room. The drapes are swagged at the top and draped well down over floor. The large crystal and metal droplight in the dining room matches in design the droplight in the entrance hall. The-lar- ge kitchen has a corner window placed over the sink and work table"for maximum illumination. Trimmed in red and white, the motif is carried into the linoleum floor covering, which has a red feature strip and also into the trim inset In tile of the sunk and work table. The Venetian blinds in the kitchen are carried on red tapes. Amply furnished - with closets, drawers and bins, the kitchen is lighted, planned and furnished for ease and conveniwell-planne- d ence. Steps leading down to the basement, which is completely finished, open f into the backhas furnace, yard. The bot-alhas an electric blower, which is used in the hot months to circulate the cool air of the basement through the house. One of the two bedrooms is furnished as a nursery, while the other bedroom is furnished as a master bedroom. The two bedrooms are separated by a bathroom done in coraline and plum. The room is amply ted 'with large and roomy Closets and drawers, which are stippled to match the walls, so that they are almost imperceptible. The room is illuminated with indirect lighting. The one story .house is made of painted brick in an adaptation of the popular Mediterranean style. The blue roof is complemented by the blue trimmed casement windows and window boxes. C. recently revealed that efforts to establish an important chrome Industry on the Pacific slope are meeting with success. As chrome has been designated by the U. S. bureau of Mines as one of tile "seyen strategic war minerals," the United States has been interested in the development of more so a domestic supply,--t- he since practically all chrome consumed in the United States is im- ported. Although the United States' armament program has emphasized the military uses of chrome, the metal's greatest-idustrial importance undoubtedly lies in the fact that it is a necessary ingredient in the production of all "stainless" steels. The United States Chrome Mines' bids were for delivery of 5000 tons of natural lump ore to the U. S. Ordnance Depot at Ogden, Utah for $150,000 and for delivery of 12500 tons of synthetic lumps f. o. b. cars at Philadelphia Harbor for $362,500.00. The two bids, in addition to being the lowest, taking into consideration the 25 per cent preference differential allowed domestic producers, also represent. ed the largest tonnage of either foreign or domestic origin, offered by any bidder.
