Show thanksgiving DAY IN THE missionary FIEU ENGLAND NOV As it Is s thanksgiving day my companion and I 1 decided d to be loyal citizens of our grand republic and have a holiday we are laboring at ip a city of bebout inhabitants which is one of the places I 1 where that valiant serva servant nt of god cod eli derc der C W W Peik iose labored 50 years ago in the early days of the church travelling tra velling without purse or scrip we have a flourishing branch heie at present and aad rejoice in our labors the city officials do not accommodate us with any protection in fact they are against us but we are successful by minding our own business and going about in a quiet way per formin jour labors in teaching the gospel from door to kloor door and in our hall w aich we rent we have a family of saints at rel fel about ten miles out on the sea coast belonging to our branch so we ive are spending the holiday with them this place as something of a summer resort for tourists on the german ocean or the north korth sea and bro has zi si boarding house and keeps boats and baths to rent lie he is a fine sturdy little fellow a good old english fisherman so of conise bomse our dinner was of fish instead ot of turkey this year tear we were to spend the morning rowing and fishing but the sea was rather rough so bro thol we had bad better belter not venture out and for my part I 1 was not lot anxious to lose my good break dixit so we walked along the beach finding stones or of cornelia and amber also sea shells and enjoying the fine fresh sea breeze which strengthens and invigorates one so much I 1 we spent the lay day in taking in the sights and conversing with the good people and I 1 feel that I 1 have spent a day of thanksgiving indeed and at this late hour a as I 1 sit in this comfortable for table abode by the glowing fireplace my shots naturally revert to those at home I 1 wish that all our young people could be in the position ot of a missionary for awhile and realize the position they as latter day saints occupy it if I 1 could only speak sp eak one word of warning or encouragement to the youth ot of zion I 1 should feel many tims paid tor for my effort boys when we realize the condition ot of the world we cannot afford to follow alter after the things thereof remember that the world has fallen and that our only safety is in ili following the guidance of the servants ot of the lord it is not too late for a anyone ily to repent but it is rather high time that some ot of us turned around and did better do not seek the confidence kence ot of a street loafer but rather the confidence of your parents and your leaders it if we tail fail to keep the commandments our punishment will be greater than that of the world because we have been given greater light you know where much is given much is expected in return I 1 have been in this land nearly two months and am happy ill ili the ministry mints I 1 am thankful that I 1 have been counted worthy of a mission and I 1 am proud of those dear parents whom sod god gave me NO man ever had bad better parents anti and thank the lord I 1 have tried to live so as not to bring sorrow upon them they have borne the trials and we their children enjoy the blessings which have comp come thru their sacrifice can we afford to cause aise them sorrow I 1 think not praying tying the lord to help us to be faithful in ili well doing I 1 reman |
