The Westminster men s cross country team has finished the 2012 season. The team placed fourth at the Frontier Conference Championship on Nov. 2 in Helena, Mont One Westminster athlete, junior Oliver Lange, went on to compete nationally on Nov. 17 in Vancouver, Wash. At the National 1 , i J From Left Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championships, Lange finished 71st of 309 runners. Lange qualified for the national championships due to his second place finish at the conference championships. Womens Cross Country Westminsters womens cross country team ended their 2012 season with a fifth place finish at the Frontier Conference Championship on Nov. 2 in Helena, Mont No women qualified to compete at the NAIA National Championships. With the end of their season came the announcement that the teams Katrina England, a junior, was named a Daktronics-NAI- A Scholar-Athlet- e. Mens Soccer The mens soccer team finished the 2012 season with an overall record of 10 wins, six losses and two ties. The mens last game of the season resulted in a 3-- 0 loss at Cal State San Marcos on Oct. 27. This season, the team scored a total of 26 goals, shot 226 times and earned 70 saves. Ryan Smith, junior forward, led the team in goals and shots with nine and 42 respectively. Five of Smiths goals were game winning. It was a great season for us, he said, we put together plenty of quality For Rucklos, the highlights of the season were the teams back to back overtime wins against Trinity-Lutherand Ashford. Several Griffins from the team were recognized for their performances this season. Smith was named an Academic Athlete for his academic and athletic performance. Four men were named to the Frontier Team for their athletic abilities: Jordan Conroy, junior, Gabe Gon- victories. an All-Distr-ict zalez, senior, Bryan Rucklos, junior, and Damir Sabanovic, senior. Womens Soccer Westminsters womens soccer team finished their regular season with an overall record of 12 wins, five losses and one tie The teams last game resulted in a 0 loss against Texas at Brownsville on Oct 24. This season, the women fired a total of275 shots and made 45 goals. Overall, the women had 81 saves. Rylei North, sophomore forward, led the team in goals with 10 throughout the season. Margo Hickman, senior forward, led the team in shots with 56 attempts. The women will not be competing at the conference or national championship level this season However, three team members were named to the Frontier Team Nicole Carter, 1-- nce sophomore; Justine Jones, senior, and Jaime Nelson, senior. Volleyball Westminster's womens volkyball team ended their season with an eagjith place standing in the Frontier Conference Championship after losing their first match of the tournament to Car-ro-ll College. The womens final overall record this season was 14 wins and 14 losses. Overall, the team attacked nearly 4. 000 times this season and dr almost 2.000 times. The team had a total of 202 blocks. Ashley Marchant, senior outride hitter, sooted 355 points this season. Stephanie Jones Morin, senior middle blocker led foe team in kills, with 170 this season, and sdb blocks, with 13.
