Show 1 Arts & i i v New York Style Pizza with flair The Rusted Sun Pizzeria Julie Erwin Staff Writer The Salt Lake Valley has many offerings when it comes to pizza. The Rusted Sun Pizzeria stands out in my mind for several reasons. Its size, location and food all add curious character to this eatery. I have visited the Rusted Sun Pizzeria on many occasions for both lunch and dinner. At a glance, I would describe it as New York Style Pizza with an option for flair with a reasonably priced selection. The dining area at the Rusted Sun Pizzeria, and the kitchen for that matter, are incredibly small. If seated at the bar, you will be able to see the majority ofwhat goes on in the kitchen. In all the pizzeria has five booths, six seats at the bar and a bench for takeout customers. On my first visit, I was taken aback by the limited amount of seating. However I have discovered i j. over my many visits that seating rarely becomes a problem. I havent ever ' . waited, but in observing 2 others wait booths become available quickly and I have seen people place their order while waiting. An exception to the no waiting would be on weekend nights. The staff informed me that the longest they ever see patrons wait is 15 minutes. The Rusted Sun Pizzeria is sandwiched between O.C. Tanner and Curry in a Hurry on State Street just off 2100 South. The best place to park and avoid being towed is on State Street right in front of the pizzeria. Ample curbside parking is available in this area however street parking can be difficult on such a busy thoroughfare. The menu at the Rusted Sun Pizzeria is just what you would expect. It includes appetizers, salads, lasagna, pizzas and calzones. The flair comes with the pizza toppings. Additional cheeses include ricotta, feta and blue cheese. Veggie toppings consist of jalapeno peppers, portabella mushrooms and broccoli. Further pine nuts, capers and bay shrimp can all be added as toppings to enhance your pizza or calzone selection. On my last visit, I stopped in for a quick bite at lunch. I sat at the bar and ordered the Mediterranean calzone ($8.75). I was promptly informed of the potential saltiness of the dish by my waiter. I expected this with the ingredients of feta, salami, green olives Y ft Julie ErwinThe Forum SALT and artichoke hearts, but I enjoy salty food so I stuck with my pick. When the calzone arrived I found the crust to be golden and crispy. I also discovered that I had ordered enough food for two. As warned the salt content was high but the crust offered the perfect balance to the saltiness. I also had a side salad ($3.75) with their house balsamic vinaigrette. The side salad was basic mixed greens with the freshness of mushrooms and red peppers for additional flavor. After ordering and enjoying my meal, I discovered that lunch really is the best time to stop by. For two reasons, the first being that seating was constantly available without a wait and second they offer two different lunch specials. For $7.25 you can be treated to a slice of pizza, salad and a drink. An alternative to this is ordering by the slice for $3.50 $.25 per LAKES PREMIER WEDDING SHOW Pi JlMl) ; topping. Rusted Sun Pizzeria is a reasonably priced eatery that offers pizza ingredients with a hint of flair. You can partake in their pizza at lunch time for a study or on a weekend night break, on the go as take-o- ut with friends. of Utahs Top Wedding Vendors Fashion Shows Sponsored by: FREE Online Registration! ft", J3 U rrr"f TT, VP lArlfc W util juiu WnWfrfTt. - Classified V Textbooks buyback, multiple online buyers gets you the most cash for your books, even no longer used editions.
