Show Help save the environment (and your wallet) Kerry Case sheds light on Westminster's alternative transportation initiative Kerry Case Environmental Center Director HIGH TRAFFIC, LIMITED PARKING Did you know that 17 of Westminsters total greenhouse gas emissions come from commuters driving to and from campus? According to a 2006 UTA study, 77 of Griffins drive alone to campus each day. All this driving is bad for our air quality, our healdi, our sanity, and our bank accounts. Plus, parking on campus will be limited this year due to the construction of the new Meldrum Science Center. TRANSPORTATION SOLUTIONS Riding the bus or Trax around town produces less than half the greenhouse gas emissions as driving alone, and anyone smart enough to attend Westminster can figure out that carpooling with just two people does the same. If two people carpoolsing produces haif the emissions, consider how much emissions (and money) a four person carpool saves. WESTMINSTER PARTNERS UP WITH UTA This year, the college is willing to foot the bill for you to travel to school. All you have to do is commit to to using transit, biking, walking, or month.
